About The Position

The Director, Domestic Transportation Brokerage is responsible for driving the commercial, operational, and financial performance of the Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) Group through the development and management of a scalable domestic transportation brokerage platform. This role leads the build-out and day-to-day operations of brokerage services across FTL, LTL, intermodal, and parcel, ensuring strong customer satisfaction, execution discipline, and P&L performance. The position is accountable for carrier network development, pricing and procurement strategy, and operational excellence, delivering competitive rates and reliable service across the network. As a key member of the SCS leadership team, this role aligns transactional growth with broader business strategy, establishing brokerage as a core entry capability for customer acquisition and solution expansion. The leader manages SCS transportation brokerage teams and is responsible for creating a high-performance, scalable operating model that supports sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of scaling brokerage operations and driving transactional revenue growth
  • Deep understanding of: Carrier procurement and network management, Dispatch operations and cost control, U.S. domestic transportation market dynamics
  • 10–12 years’ experience in managing a Logistics related organization, including P&L management, commercial printing/ direct mail operations, and strategic business development experience.
  • 5–7 years’ leadership/ people management experience.
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written), and ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and leadership (internally and externally).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/Logistics, Business Administration or related field, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build a Scalable Brokerage Platform and Execution Capabilities: Establish and scale a domestic transportation brokerage business across FTL, LTL, Intermodal, and Parcel. Develop and deploy a repeatable, standardized operating model across regions. Ensure competitive pricing, coverage, and service reliability aligned with market expectations. Build and lead teams across: Transportation procurement, Carrier relationship management, Dispatch and load execution. Establish KPIs (service, cost, margin, coverage) and enforce performance discipline. Ensure consistent execution across all modes and geographies.
  • Build and Manage Carrier Network: Expand and manage strategic carrier partnerships to ensure capacity, cost competitiveness, and service quality. Build a structured, long-term carrier relationships. Leverage scale and network to improve buying power.
  • Drive Transactional Growth: Partner with BD teams, IFF, CLG, and OCM to convert customer demand into executable transactions. Build a disciplined pipeline management and conversion process. Oversee customer relationships to ensure service excellence and satisfaction. Act as a senior point of escalation for brokerage customers and ensure delivery against contractual and service expectations.
  • Enable Integrated Solutions: Partner with Solutions Development, Control Tower/Managed Transportation, and cross-BU teams to support Inbound / Outbound / LLP solution design, provide transactional backbone for solution scalability, and ensure brokerage capability enables end-to-end customer offerings, not standalone execution.
  • Establish Ownership & Accountability: Create clear ownership for domestic transportation inquiries, response, and pricing. Eliminate fragmented service across business units and implement a centralized intake and execution process. Improve response speed, win rate, and customer experience.
  • Align with Strategic Positioning: Build capability to compete with Global freight forwarders, Integrated logistics providers, and Warehouse / fulfillment-led providers. Avoid direct competition with asset-heavy carriers and large U.S. brokers where scale advantages are structural. Position domestic transportation as a required capability to protect and grow global accounts.

Conduct performance evaluations, manage promotions and compensation decisions, and oversee corrective actions when needed. Build, lead, and develop a high-performing operations and commercial organization. Support succession planning and long term talent development initiatives.
