The Director of Digital Manufacturing Solutions is responsible for defining, leading, and executing the digital manufacturing strategy across the enterprise. This role drives adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, modern factory automation, and data‑enabled operations to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and mission readiness. The director will lead a cross‑functional team focused on architecting and deploying scalable digital capabilities—MES, IIoT, advanced analytics, robotics, automation, connected work, and smart factory technologies—to transform how our factories operate and deliver products.

Requirements

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
Direct experience in Manufacturing
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Requires advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business or functional teams.
Extensive experience in digital manufacturing, smart factory technology, automation engineering, or related fields.
Deep understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts, MES platforms, IIoT systems, robotics/automation, advanced analytics, and manufacturing data flows.
Proven leadership experience driving complex factory modernization or digital transformation programs across multiple sites.
Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence senior operations leaders.
Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
Strong strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high‑complexity manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and own the enterprise digital manufacturing strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, operations leadership, and long‑range digital transformation roadmaps.
Lead the selection, design, and implementation of Industry 4.0 platforms and technologies (MES, IIoT, digital twins, automation systems, robotics, predictive analytics, connected workforce tools).
Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Digital Technology to deploy integrated factory solutions that enhance throughput, reduce waste, and strengthen compliance.
Build and lead a high‑performing team of digital manufacturing engineers, product owners, solution architects, and automation specialists.
Drive standardization and scalability of digital manufacturing capabilities across sites to create a unified, modern, data‑driven operations ecosystem.
Oversee the digital factory roadmap, maturity model, and multi‑year investment plan.
Lead enterprise‑wide smart factory initiatives, ensuring measurable improvements in productivity, uptime, cycle time, and cost performance.
Champion the use of data and analytics—from shopfloor sensors to enterprise systems—to generate actionable insights and accelerate decision‑making.
Partner with cybersecurity to ensure secure, compliant deployment of connected manufacturing technologies.
Collaborate with business units to pilot new automation and I4.0 capabilities, evaluate ROI, and scale successful solutions.
Provide executive‑level communication and reporting on digital manufacturing progress, capability advancement, and operational impact.
Build strong relationships with suppliers, technology partners, and integrators to ensure Raytheon benefits from leading digital manufacturing practices and innovations.
