About The Position

Brooklyn Health is helping develop novel treatments for mental health disorders by improving how clinical research is done. We develop a platform for clinical trials that improves the accuracy, sensitivity, and objectivity with which neurological and psychiatric disorders are measured. For more information, visit brooklyn.health. The Design team works alongside Product, Engineering, and Growth to design, iterate, and market our core platform. As we mature, we are looking for a Director of Design to scale our design operations, implement AI into our core design processes, and lead our growing team of full-time designers. In addition to core product design, this role oversees brand identity, marketing assets, and creative contractor relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer to step in and own our design function end-to-end. This is an in-person role, based in our offices in NoHo.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience working closely with product and engineering to develop complex multi-user workflows
• Experience with AI-driven design processes and GitHub; proficiency with Figma, and developer-aligned UI libraries like PrimeVue
• Experience managing, mentoring, or leading product designers and illustrators
• Hands-on experience conducting and analyzing user research, usability testing, and workflow mapping
• Proven track record of shipping data-heavy SaaS products across web, tablet, and mobile platforms
• Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, or scaling design systems and strong brand identity across an organization and its products

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience building healthcare or clinical research products
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance, accessibility, and data privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR)
• Experience with creative direction, brand design, marketing, website design
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or vector illustration tools
• Experience creating product demo videos, motion graphics, or light 2D animation

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Product and Engineering directors to define strategy, provide scalable solutions, and ensure technical feasibility for new features.
• Structure and develop new design processes spanning user research, prototyping, product testing, and AI tool adoption.
• Lead UX/UI research to develop a deep understanding of users and stakeholders, translating product requirements and sales ideas into solutions that truly align with user needs.
• Balance hands-on, high-fidelity design work with managing that work effectively across your team, ensuring deadlines are met across research, exploration, and implementation phases.
• Maintain and scale our design system to ensure UI consistency across web and tablet.
• Oversee brand identity—including the company website, sales materials, and product literature—and manage contract designers and illustrators working on creative assets.
