About The Position

The Fair Futures and SILP director has direct oversight of the Fair Futures team at Kaplan House (Manhattan), Cedar Knolls House (Bronx), and the Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP, Bronx). Kaplan House and Cedar Knolls House provide therapeutic and support services to adolescents aged 16-21 referred through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system, who have experienced significant trauma leading to behavioral, emotional, and functional/developmental issues. Both programs offer extensive independent living skills, vocational preparation, and educational services. The SILP offers a transitional living environment for older youth (18-21) transitioning to adulthood, providing resources and support to build necessary independent living skills.

Requirements

  • LCSW, LMSW, or a Master's degree in a Behavioral Health or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in either child welfare, Juvenile justice, mental health, or other residential treatment setting.
  • Three (3) of which must have been in a senior managerial/operations level capacity.
  • Ability to write policy, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ability to assess program needs, increase efficiencies, and build teams.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans with staff members to enhance programming.
  • Empathy for youth and families, and a passion for including youth and family voice in child welfare programming operations.
  • Capacity to lead and supervise an array of child/adolescent focused services within a milieu treatment setting.
  • Expands and develops youth-guided family-driven care.
  • Embodies Sanctuary principles & values and ensures an integration of said principles throughout the program.
  • Supports and Strengthens Interdisciplinary practice.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Skilled in using Data to Inform & Guide Practice.
  • Values and Demonstrates Cultural Competency.
  • Values professional development and participation in supervision and training.
  • Knowledge of electronic Health record systems or CONNECTIONS preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
  • Aptitude for learning new systems and application software.
  • Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Establish annual goals for the program.
  • Create and encourage opportunities for staff development and professional growth.
  • Ensure programmatic compliance with auditing standards and agency policies.
  • Represent the programs at external stakeholder meetings.
  • Have overall clinical and administrative responsibility for program staff, including supervision, training, and development.
  • Ensure programmatic systems are in place to meet all client safety needs, both on and off grounds.
  • Ensure the site meets appropriate safety and aesthetic standards.
  • Make certain that appropriate direct clinical supervision is provided to all clinical staff members.
  • Ensure appropriate psychiatric, assessment, therapeutic, and independent living disciplines are available and administered to residents.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with community representatives and groups to enhance linkages for the client population.
  • Oversee key administrative staff of the program and ensure appropriate completion/compliance of their work.
  • Participate in the recruitment processes of essential staff and have the ultimate responsibility for candidate selection.
  • Ensure that all internal/external regulatory requirements are met.
  • Be responsible for the fiscal and human resource management related to the operations of the program.
  • Have the responsibility for development and adherence to the department budget.
  • Adhere to the philosophy, values, and practices of the Sanctuary model in guiding day-to-day interactions with residents and staff, with a significant focus on family engagement.
  • Hire and provide clinical and administrative supervision to the Clinical Director, Senior Team Leader, and Programming Manager at both programs.
  • Be responsible for budgetary oversight of the program, including ensuring the program meets the budgeted census.
  • Manage risk regarding client safety by adhering to all risk management protocols.
