About The Position

We’re looking for an (Associate) Director of Data Management to lead the quality, compliance, and modernisation of data management practice across Lindus' clinical trial portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Data, you’ll bridge deep clinical data expertise with a forward-looking approach to technology, embedding AI-assisted ways of working and building the technical capabilities of an experienced team. You’ll own data quality across the full trial lifecycle, from the integrity of data collection through to the handover of clean, analysis-ready datasets. You’ll carry direct management responsibility for a geographically distributed team of senior and mid-level data managers across the UK and US, developing them through deliberate coaching and structured development. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant scope. You’ll set the standard for what excellence looks like in clinical data management at Lindus, partner closely with Biostatistics, Deployment, Clinical Operations, Product, and Quality, and play a central role in shaping Citrus, our end-to-end clinical trial delivery platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in clinical data management or a closely related field within pharma, biotech, or a CRO environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and mentoring others, whether through formal line management or senior, hands-on technical leadership.
  • Experience introducing new technology or ways of working within a clinical data team before, and change management skills to drive adoption effectively across an experienced team.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational databases and report building, and practical application of these skills in a clinical data management context.
  • Deep applied knowledge of data standards (e.g. CDASH, SDTM) and ability to apply them confidently in a modern data environment.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections or audits, and understanding of good documentation and inspection-readiness in practice.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience introducing or overseeing AI or ML tools in a regulated clinical setting is preferred (e.g. LLM-assisted data review, automated discrepancy detection).
  • Prior experience in a high-growth or startup environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a geographically distributed team of senior and mid-level data managers, building technical capability and fostering a culture of quality and transparency.
  • Define what excellence looks like in data management practice and invest in the team’s development to deliver against that standard.
  • Establish and advance SOPs, training programmes, and ways of working that scale with a growing portfolio.
  • Lead the growth of the team through active hiring and headcount planning, ensuring resourcing meets current and near-term study needs.
  • Manage data quality standards across the full trial lifecycle, ensuring data collected is accurate, complete, and fit for analysis.
  • Oversee data management activities across all trials, from protocol review through database lock and data transfer.
  • Ensure data management processes and outputs meet CDISC standards, including CDASH and SDTM.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex data quality issues and sponsor queries.
  • Represent the data management function in quality audits and inspections.
  • Embed AI-assisted approaches to data quality within the team’s day-to-day workflows, operating within an appropriate governance framework.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive data management workflows, leading the team to implement where possible and escalating platform-level requirements to the Product team.
  • Implement modern data tooling across the team, including cloud-based data platforms and programmatic approaches to data management.
  • Partner with the Deployment team to establish best practices for study builds that yield trustworthy, high-quality data, and uphold those standards across Citrus, Lindus’s end-to-end clinical trial delivery platform.
  • Partner with Biostatistics to ensure data quality standards support analytical requirements and the handover of analysis-ready datasets.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations to establish clear touchpoints for DM involvement across the study lifecycle, ensuring data management expertise informs site workflows, monitoring strategies, and data collection decisions early and consistently.
  • Inform Product team priorities by translating data management needs and trial delivery insights into clear product requirements for Citrus.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure data management processes meet compliance standards and are inspection-ready.
