About The Position

FOX is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to provide technical leadership across Consumer Experience data initiatives. The role leads data engineering teams supporting Fox One, Sports, Entertainment, and News, and develops a cohesive strategy to unify consumer interactions, subscriptions, and digital operations across FOX properties. The director will build and evolve a central consumer data foundation that brings together engagement, account, and behavioral data to support analytics and AI-powered consumer experiences. The director partners with engineering, product, marketing, analytics, operations, and business leaders to turn consumer experience objectives into scalable data capabilities. The position also manages and develops data engineering leaders and teams, sets technical direction and engineering standards, and supports reliable, high-throughput streaming and batch data pipelines for personalization and cross-property insights.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, data platforms, or related technical roles, including 5+ years leading and developing engineering teams.
Deep understanding of modern data engineering architectures and experience designing and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms, pipelines, and services.
Hands-on knowledge of cloud and modern data technologies such as AWS, Databricks, Apache Spark, and related distributed data processing frameworks.
Understanding of data lake, data warehouse, and lakehouse architectures and methods for structuring and serving large-scale analytical datasets.
Experience with modern data orchestration and transformation frameworks and patterns for reliable, maintainable, reusable data pipelines.
Strong understanding of data modeling, data contracts, metadata management, lineage, governance, data quality, and observability.
Experience designing data platforms for BI, analytics, automation, machine learning, and AI-powered applications.
Understanding of structuring and exposing enterprise data, metadata, semantic models, and contextual information for AI agents and agentic workflows.
Experience establishing cloud data engineering standards for scalability, reliability, performance, security, and cost optimization.
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, APIs, distributed systems, and integration patterns relevant to modern data platforms.
Ability to evaluate emerging technologies, make architectural tradeoffs, and set a technical roadmap balancing immediate business needs with long-term platform strategy.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicate architecture, decisions, and tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders.
People leadership skills and experience hiring, mentoring, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.

Experience in consumer digital media, direct-to-consumer streaming services, subscription platforms, or digital publishing.
Experience building data foundations or platforms supporting generative AI, agentic AI, or agent-to-agent workflows.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow data engineering teams and engineering leaders building scalable data platforms for Fox One, Sports, Entertainment, and News.
Define and execute a data engineering strategy to unify consumer interactions, subscription lifecycles, and operational workflows across FOX digital properties.
Architect and establish a centralized consumer data platform aggregating engagement, subscription-event, and behavioral data.
Build trusted, high-throughput streaming and batch pipelines that enable personalized consumer experiences and cross-property insights.
Partner with Product, Analytics, Marketing, and Operations stakeholders to support data integration, user growth, subscription retention, and seamless user journeys.
Establish engineering standards and best practices for data architecture, quality, governance, observability, scalability, and reliability.
Modernize and automate data workflows to reduce manual processes and accelerate delivery of actionable insights.
Provide technical vision and architectural guidance to data engineering managers and leads across brand verticals.
Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent and foster technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
