About The Position

We are seeking a Director – Data Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary data organization responsible for data engineering, data quality, and data governance capabilities across the bank. In addition to leading core data capabilities, this role will act as a Site Lead, responsible for building and developing a high-performing local technology team while partnering closely with enterprise technology and business leadership. This leader will define and execute the data strategy for engineering, governance, and data quality, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant data platforms that support analytics, regulatory reporting, and business operations in a highly regulated banking environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, or enterprise data management.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership or people management roles.
  • Experience building and operating enterprise data platforms and large-scale data pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture (cloud data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses).
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary technology teams and deliver large-scale initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Databricks.
  • Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
  • Familiarity with data quality platforms such as Informatica IDQ/CDQ or similar.
  • Experience building data products or domain-oriented data architectures.
  • Experience leading distributed or multi-location engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business, analytics, risk, and technology leaders to ensure enterprise data platforms support strategic business priorities.
  • Establish data management standards, governance frameworks, and engineering best practices across the organization.
  • Lead teams responsible for data pipelines, data integration, and enterprise data platforms supporting analytics and operational workloads.
  • Ensure data platforms are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Drive adoption of modern data engineering practices, automation, and DevOps pipelines.
  • Drive initiatives for data lineage, metadata management, and data catalog adoption.
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams of data engineers, data quality analysts, and data governance specialists.
  • Act as Site Lead, responsible for growing and developing the local technology organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop leaders and engineers, creating clear career growth and capability development paths.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple data initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Manage resource planning, budgets, and vendor partnerships.
  • Establish metrics and processes for high-quality engineering delivery and continuous improvement.
