About The Position

The Financial Products and Services (FP&S) team at Target aims to create and lead the future of financial products and services that enhance guest experience and drive profitable growth. This team manages and evolves financial products and services to strengthen guest loyalty, simplify financial experiences, and fuel Target’s growth. The Circle Card team specifically handles the day-to-day servicing and strategies for Target Circle Debit, Target Circle Credit Card, and Co-Branded Target Circle Mastercard Credit Card products. As a Director Credit Risk Collections, you will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to manage the Collections business for these credit products. This role involves leading a team of highly quantitative data analysts, leveraging analytic skills and industry knowledge to partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the collections team's vision and goals. You will own all aspects of strategy, P&L, and model development, including data analysis, segmentation, predictive analytics, requirement generation, validation, and ongoing reporting. Key responsibilities include tracking portfolio performance, recommending changes to collections strategies, and sharing insights to refine underwriting credit strategies and models. Collaboration with internal teams like Underwriting, Finance, Operations, and Fraud Prevention, as well as external partners such as issuing banks (e.g., TD Bank) and federal regulators, is crucial for designing solutions to mitigate portfolio risk, minimize losses, enhance recoveries, and drive guest loyalty. Strong communication skills are essential to articulate strategy benefits and trade-offs to various partners and senior leaders. Requirements

  • Four-year degree
  • A seasoned credit risk collections leader with 10+ years of relevant financial services experience
  • Deep knowledge of predictive analytics and statistical techniques, specifically in full-credit credit card consumer lending
  • Strong project management, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence leaders and clearly articulate risk/benefit analyses
  • Experience directly leading a team
  • Proven ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships with key internal and external partners to drive end-to-end thinking and business results at a rapid pace

  • MS in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute strategies to manage the Collections business of Target’s Circle Credit Card and Co-Branded Target Circle Mastercard Credit Products.
  • Lead a team of highly quantitative data analysts.
  • Leverage analytic skills and industry knowledge to partner with various internal and external stakeholders to execute the vision and goals for the collections team.
  • Own all aspects of strategy, P&L, and model development including data analysis, segmentation, predictive analytics, requirement generation, validation and ongoing reporting and validation.
  • Track portfolio performance and recommend changes to collections strategies.
  • Share learnings that refine underwriting credit strategies and models based on analysis and experience.
  • Design solutions to mitigate portfolio risk, minimize losses, and enhance recoveries while driving loyalty to Target, through partnership with internal teams (Underwriting, Finance, Operations, Fraud Prevention) and external partners (issuing and co-brand partners, external service providers).
  • Articulate the benefits and trade-offs of strategies to internal partners and senior leaders as well as external partners such as TD Bank and federal regulators.
