About The Position

TerraPower is a nuclear technology company based in Bellevue, Washington. At its core, the company is working to raise living standards globally through a more affordable, secure, and environmentally friendly form of nuclear energy along with innovations in medical isotopes to improve human health. In 2006, TerraPower originated with Bill Gates and a group of like-minded visionaries who evaluated the fundamental challenges to raising living standards around the world. They recognized energy access was crucial to the health and economic well-being of communities and decided that the private sector needed to take action and create energy sources that would advance global energy deployment. TerraPower’s mission is to be a world leader in new nuclear technologies, while developing innovators and future leaders in the nuclear field. As a result, the company’s activities in the fields of nuclear energy and related sciences are yielding significant innovations in the safety and economics of nuclear power, hybrid energy and medical applications – all for significant human health benefits. TerraPower is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced nuclear reactor research and development and influencing change within the nuclear power landscape and bringing forward the critical production of medical isotopes. TerraPower is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Natrium Director of Configuration Management and Technical Data Management TerraPower is seeking a Director of Configuration Management (CM) and Technical Data Management (TDM) to lead Natrium’s CM/TDM strategy and execution across multiple project configurations and the standard plant design. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Strategy and Integration, this role owns configuration control, configuration structures and naming, and the technical data lifecycle that underpins Natrium’s design‑control rigor and execution. The position ensures CM/TDM alignment with ASME NQA‑1 Requirement III through collaboration with QA and Design Authority. Senior Managers reporting to this role oversee Configuration Management and Technical Data Management. As TerraPower rapidly scales and Natrium accelerates toward major design, licensing, and construction milestones, this is a high‑impact opportunity to shape how engineering information flows, how teams align, and how first‑of‑a‑kind nuclear technology is delivered across a portfolio of projects. This role requires on‑site presence four days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years in nuclear or highly regulated engineering environments.
  • Deep knowledge of ASME NQA‑1 (Requirement III and Part II).
  • Demonstrated leadership in configuration management (baselines, change‑control, structures/naming) and technical data management (EDMS/records, metadata).
  • Experience with EDMS, CMIS/PLM systems, including developing CM/TDM data structures and records architectures.
  • Strong cross‑functional leadership and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Experience managing CM/TDM teams or process‑owner organizations aligned with traceability, baselining, and data‑lifecycle requirements.
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices, document/records control systems, and CM/TDM interfaces to design‑control expectations.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulator reviews, and ASME/NQA‑1 compliance assessments through configuration‑control and technical‑data evidence.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence cross‑functional leadership.
  • Experience developing CM Plans, metadata and numbering standards, workflow RACIs, and CM/TDM procedures.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior director or senior manager experience in configuration management, technical data management, or nuclear QA.
  • Experience with FOAK nuclear plant design or advanced reactor programs.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section III and how CM/TDM interfaces with qualification of engineering/analysis software under NQA‑1.
  • Experience integrating CM/TDM workflows with project management and multi‑partner collaboration frameworks.
  • Familiarity with how CM/TDM baselines and records support applicability/licensing evaluation processes (e.g., 50.59‑like frameworks).
  • Experience guiding EPCs, suppliers, or partners in implementing CM/TDM deliverables, turnover data requirements, and configuration‑control expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Own Natrium’s configuration‑control processes and support alignment of CM/TDM deliverables with NQA‑1 Requirement III in collaboration with QA and Design Authority.
  • Architect and evolve Natrium’s configuration‑management structures and naming conventions, and guide CM/TDM standards and continuous-improvement activities, while Senior Managers oversee day‑to‑day CM and TDM execution.
  • Ensure configuration baselines and change‑control records align with design‑control expectations across CMIS, EDMS, and records workflows.
  • Partner with QA, Design Authority, Licensing, and Program/Project Engineering to specify and verify CM/TDM requirements in program deliverables and reviews supporting ASME NQA‑1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B compliance.
  • Define CM/TDM expectations to support construction, commissioning, and operations, with execution owned by project, EPC, and operations teams.
  • Set and maintain the CM/TDM interfaces with document‑control and QA/Design Authority design‑control expectations, with Senior Managers coordinating implementation across TerraPower, EPCs, suppliers, and partners.
  • Drive data-driven improvement in CM/TDM using Condition Report data, rework data, and process-adherence insights.
  • Lead and develop the Configuration Management and Technical Data Management organization, including Senior managers.
  • Drive cross‑functional alignment with QA, Design Authority, Licensing, Project Engineering, and EPC partners to ensure cohesive CM/TDM standards and practices.
  • Champion TerraPower’s guiding principles through a strong safety, quality, and accountability culture.
  • Drive standardization and feedback to and from a standard plant configuration as we deliver multiple projects.
