Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and technical organization.
  • 5 years in a leadership role.
  • An intuitive and highly strategic thinker; exceptional experience leading a team of people; can engender support and trust from a team and lead through influence.
  • Project management expert, ability to meet deadlines, establish clear priorities quickly and bring projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • A proven track record of working effectively under pressure and handling a heavy workload.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and counsel to senior executive leaders on external and employee communications strategies and tactics.
  • Lead the development and oversee coordination of external communications and employee communications strategy to support the Mid Atlantic South Marketing and Comm's vision and enhance company reputation at BGE, Pepco, and DPL Maryland.
  • Develop and establish relationships with internal stakeholders and other external organizations (including media, state and local government, public interest groups).
  • Serve as primary spokesperson to the news media along with the communications team.
  • Oversee the execution and management of external and employee communications programs.
  • Manage communications resources as required.
  • Assign, edit, and critique communications materials.
  • Provide coaching and feedback for employees and others assigned.
  • Ensure quality and effective communication of company goals and initiatives to external stakeholders, including media, customers, elected officials, and regulators.
  • Ensure quality of all employee communications programs and initiatives and provide communications support to all internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage corporate brand and advertising program.
  • Budget supervision and development.
  • Direct staff of five, including hiring, talent development, performance management, and recognition.
  • Develop and implement internal and external communications strategy, working closely with the senior executive team and other Communications Directors across business units.
  • Measure effectiveness of communications programs, providing oversight and ensuring execution of programs.
  • Oversee a staff of five, including two managers and three specialists.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Senior Manager of Communications and direct reports to ensure overall success of the department.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $160,800.00/Yr. – $221,100.00/Yr. plus an additional $50K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually
