About The Position

This position is accountable for developing internal and external communications programs and strategies that align with the strategic direction of the organization and support corporate and provincial partnership initiatives and objectives through participation and planning. The range of programs and strategies includes traditional and digital communications, public relations, events, social marketing, advertising, issues management and media relations. This position is also accountable for oversight of the enterprise-wide voice of the customer (VOC) system and associated processes. This accountability is met through establishing and driving the strategy and processes that ensure that customer surveying and dashboards drive actionable and timely insights back to all business areas.

Requirements

  • A University degree in a related discipline supplemented with extensive experience in corporate communications, communications leadership and advising clients and decision makers on the strategic use of communications to achieve corporate priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of communication professionals in the development and implementation of effective and appropriate internal and external communication services, processes, strategies, plans and related initiatives
  • Leads the collaborative design and detailed development of communication services, programs and materials in support of the objectives and priorities of the organization.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners in the development, coordination and implementation of communication strategies in support of WorkSafe Saskatchewan and its vision to eliminate occupational injury and illness in Saskatchewan.
  • Contributes to the successful execution of corporate strategic and operational plans by providing subject area expertise and advice that mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities.
  • Positions and maintains corporate brand and reputation through communication and public relations programs.
  • Responsible for media relations; liaises with Ministry and government communicators on media matters.
  • Sets and monitors standards for customer service and for the production of communications materials
  • Oversees and/or coordinates supporting vendor/contract relationships and services as applicable, ensuring acceptable delivery and quality. Aligns department plans and activities with priorities established through the corporate strategic and operational plans. Monitors and reports plans and activities against the corporate measures and strategy map.
  • Responsible to lead the development and organization of corporate events; represents the department and the WCB at industry events / organizations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and further continuous improvement of the VoC system and related processes.
  • Ensure the promotion of the WCB’s voice of the customer feedback measurements which includes promoting and assessing customer brand promise.
  • Optimizes the WCB’s opportunity for strategic and operational success by ensuring the department has a process improvement mindset; evaluates the successes and challenges with various campaigns and initiatives, continues the evolution of department capabilities and skills to keep pace with opportunities in emerging formats.
  • Responsible for all aspects of HR management and leadership in accordance with corporate values, policies, and practices.
  • Contributes to the vision and strategic direction of the organization by participating as a member of the division and strategic planning teams.
  • Builds and maintains positive and effective working relationships with other departments, and units within the organization that are reflective of the values and culture of the WCB.
  • Develops and implements operational and human resource plans and associated budgets for the department that are aligned with and support division and organization strategic direction.
  • Directs, supports, and/or participates in the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plan, ensuring plan is complete and current.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
