Overview We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and highly collaborative Director, Communications to join Horizon Media Holdings. Reporting to the VP, Strategic Communications & Engagement, this role plays a critical leadership function in advancing Horizon’s corporate brand, executive visibility, and enterprise-wide engagement strategy. This director must bring professional presence, sound judgment, and strategic curiosity. The ideal candidate is confident in engaging senior stakeholders, navigating a complex organization, and balancing long-term brand building with day-to-day execution. The role requires diplomacy, resilience, and the ability to anticipate risk while identifying opportunity to support the corporate communications and marketing team. This individual will drive integrated internal and external communications, including enterprise narrative development, executive positioning, media relations, awards strategy, leadership communications, employee engagement, and thought leadership initiatives. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor and steady operator who pairs strategic thinking with hands-on execution and thrives in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of progressive communications experience within media, marketing, advertising, or agency environments
  • Proven partnership with executive leadership in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Exceptional writer and storyteller across executive messaging, media relations, internal communications, and thought leadership
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational discipline and meticulous attention to detail
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and composure in high pressure environments
  • Highly organized and results driven, with a clear focus on measurable impact and brand growth
  • Advocate for emerging tools and AI technologies that enhance measurement, efficiency, and team workflows
  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in applying AI driven insights, communications technology, and modern best practices

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic communications expert to Horizon Media Holdings’ executive leadership team, supporting enterprise messaging, brand strategy, and engagement initiatives
  • Assist in shaping Horizon’s corporate narrative to strengthen awareness, credibility, and differentiation among clients, talent, partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Assist in the execution of communications strategy, elevating leadership visibility across earned media, speaking platforms, owned channels, and internal forums
  • Partner to build integrated reputation-building initiatives including media relations, awards strategy, thought leadership, and social amplification
  • Support enterprise-wide internal communications that inform, connect, and inspire employees across multi-office, hybrid workforce
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Talent, Events, Product Marketing, and Business Solutions teams to ensure alignment and message consistency
  • Support issues and crisis communications planning in collaboration with senior leadership and legal partners
  • Build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, navigating competing priorities to move initiatives forward with clarity and impact
