About The Position

The Director, Commodity Risk Management will shape and lead the enterprise strategy for managing commodity price risk across our portfolio of brands. This highly visible role will protect margins, reduce forecast volatility, and strengthen business decisions by translating complex market dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders. Initially focused on agriculture-related exposures, you will have the opportunity to expand the program into additional commodities over time. You will partner closely with business, finance, operations, and accounting leaders to align pricing, sourcing, forecasting, and hedging strategies while establishing the governance, financial controls, reporting, and performance measures needed to build a disciplined commodity risk management capability at enterprise scale.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Agricultural Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in commodity risk management, commodity trading, agricultural markets, procurement, treasury, or a related field.
• Direct experience developing and executing commodity risk management strategies in beef, cattle, agriculture, food, retail, packaging, CPG, or another physical commodity environment.
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and scaling commodity risk management programs, including governance frameworks, policies, controls, and performance measurement processes.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, derivatives, basis risk, forward curves, hedge ratios, liquidity, and physical-to-financial exposure management.
• Experience with market analysis, scenario modeling, position management, governance, and risk reporting.
• Experience leveraging commodity risk management, treasury, ERP, forecasting, or analytics platforms to support risk assessment, decision-making, and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex market dynamics and risk exposures into clear business recommendations and effectively influence senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Proven ability to create reporting on costs, simplify complex risk concepts, and influence decisions with data-driven insights.
• Strong cross-functional partnership skills across commercial, finance, treasury, and controllership teams.
• Experience managing external relationships with banks, brokers, exchanges, or commodity market participants.

• Advanced Degree in Finance/Economics/Statistics with multiple years of advanced derivatives/hedging expertise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute commodity risk management and hedging strategies aligned with business objectives, forecast needs, and enterprise risk appetite
• Advise the business on market trends, pricing decisions, exposure risks, structure, and financial statement impacts
• Partners across suppliers, finance, operations and accounting to connect physical commodity exposures with financial risk management strategies
• Evaluate futures, options, swaps, and other instruments; monitor fundamentals including supply and demand, basis, forward curves, and macroeconomic trends
• Develop reporting on exposures, hedge strategy, scenarios, performance, and business implications
• Establish governance, controls, documentation, escalation protocols, and performance measurements for risk management activity
• Manage larger supplier partnerships and improve forward buying opportunities which can reduce volatility and strengthen business planning.
• Quarterly reporting to the Finance team on all the actual quarterly cost and adjusted full year forecasting.
