About The Position

The Director of Commercial Finance is a key financial leader responsible for providing strategic financial guidance, performance analysis, and operational support to a designated business unit. This role is designed to collaborate closely with Sales and Operational Leaders, with the objective of maximizing profitability, executing strategic initiatives, delivering precise forecasting, and effectively allocating resources to drive growth and enhancements. A successful individual will be a respected leader of the business unit, will provide valuable insights that inform business decisions, and will be a key contributor to the profitability and growth of the unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in finance or combination of finance/operations roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position
  • Proficient in financial analysis, forecasting and financial modeling.
  • Adept use of Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI to extrapolate data and create meaningful reports for end users.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with others in the organization.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills. Able to develop and motivate others. Inspire and hold direct reports accountable to reach objectives.
  • High level of organizational skills, time management skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic financial advisor to the Regional President and operational leaders, providing guidance on financial matters, business risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate capital investments and resource allocations to maximize return on investment.
  • Institute pricing strategies, manage cost inputs, and analyze the profitability of customers, products, and services for continuous optimization of profits.
  • Lead the development and execution of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans for the regional business unit.
  • Monitor key financial performance indicators (KPIs), providing variance analysis and actionable insights to regional leadership.
  • Partner with business leaders to drive revenue growth while optimizing costs to drive leverage and improve profitability.
  • Master and integrate macro-economic and industry indicators into forecast process to drive a proactive approach market variability.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure financial discipline and alignment with corporate financial goals.
  • Drive operational efficiency initiatives, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating financial risks within the business unit.
  • Partner with HR, operations, and sales teams to align financial goals with business objectives.
  • Support M&A activities, business integrations, and financial due diligence when applicable.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to the broader finance team members. Lead and develop projects that move the entire finance organization forward.
  • Oversee, in coordination with the centralized accounting team, month-end close activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the business unit's P&Ls.
  • Coordinate forecasting and budgeting process with corporate FP&A to align with overall company goals.
  • Assist in cash flow generation by driving improvements within the business unit’s control for DOH, DSO, and DPO.
