About The Position

The Director of Commercial Development leads the structuring, negotiation, and evolution of complex commercial partnerships that support EverBright’s growth. The role combines deal architecture, financial modeling, and cross-functional leadership to develop scalable partnership structures, negotiate key economic and governance terms, and translate market opportunities into executable commercial models. Employees in this role are responsible for leading and coordinating key functions of a project such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design, project legal review and financial negotiations. The position plays a key role in building strategic relationships and executing major contracts necessary to support the Company’s generating business growth initiatives. This role reviews and oversees the development of key project agreements. This role is responsible for all aspects of the business deal and will be involved in the closure of multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Expertise in LLCA structuring, including ownership structures, waterfalls, and governance provisions across complex partnerships
  • Experience executing complex deal structures across Next Era stakeholders, especially finance/PAR, tax, legal, PV, risk, and compliance teams
  • Advanced financial modeling capabilities, including building and maintaining partnership-level economic models, sensitivities, and scenario analysis used for executive decision-making
  • Experience translating market opportunities (e.g., Texas) into scalable commercial structures and partnership models
  • Strong negotiation leadership specifically for economic and structural terms (pricing frameworks, value allocation, partner economics)
  • Ability to integrate cross-functional inputs (pricing, supply, finance, technical, VPP capabilities) into a cohesive deal structure
  • Experience structuring and incorporating new value streams (e.g., VPP, grid services) into commercial agreements and economic models
  • Strong understanding of how operational constraints and product capabilities impact economics, with ability to incorporate inputs from finance, tax, legal, and other key stakeholders
  • Prior experience in structuring deals in the residential solar space, aware of market dynamics, and able to structure partnerships within the residential market
  • Track record of driving structural evolution of deals over time (true-ups, upsizing, amendments) based on performance and realized economics
  • Ability to synthesize complex tradeoffs and provide clear executive-level recommendations on deal economics and structure.

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

Responsibilities

  • Owns the commercial structure for strategic partnerships, including ownership, governance, economics, and other core deal terms
  • Leads partnership economic frameworks, including sensitivities and scenario analysis used for evaluating tradeoffs and informing executive decisions
  • Incorporates new value streams such as VPP, grid services, and other monetization opportunities into deal structures and partner economics
  • Leads negotiation of key economic and structural terms, including pricing, value allocation, risk sharing, and governance
  • Partners with legal to translate business intent into agreement language and preserve the intended economics and governance
  • Works across finance, tax, legal, risk, compliance, product, supply, and operations to ensure the structure is viable, scalable, and aligned internally
  • Translates market opportunities and strategic priorities into scalable partnership structures for new markets, partners, and evolving business models
  • Provides clear recommendations and communication to executive leadership on partnership economics, structural tradeoffs, and decision paths
  • Owns structural evolution after close, including upsizing, amendments, and true-ups negotiations driven by performance or changing business conditions
  • Establishes the commercial guardrails that enable execution teams to implement partnerships while preserving the intended economics and risk posture
  • Translates company financial, commercial, risk management, technical and operating goals into effective contracting strategies and objectives
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners
  • Assembles and leads internal cross functional, multi-disciplined teams through the solicitation and negotiation processes
  • Provides overall leadership and drive key decisions during negotiations
  • Delivers on contracting objectives and proforma requirements
  • Delivers contracts that position the internal project execution team for maximum success
  • Manages the contracting budget and schedule for assigned projects
  • Provides periodic updates to and interact with senior management
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
