About The Position

The Director, Commercial Contracts will support Wingstop’s legal and business teams through the drafting, review, negotiation, interpretation, and administration of a broad range of commercial agreements. This role will partner closely with stakeholders across marketing, operations, supply chain, technology, franchising, development, and finance to help advance business priorities while managing contractual, operational, and compliance risk. This role requires a highly organized, practical, and business-minded contracts professional who can manage competing priorities, build strong stakeholder relationships, and translate complex contract terms into clear guidance for the business.

Requirements

  • Bring a bachelor’s degree; advanced degree, paralegal certification, or contract management certification preferred.
  • Bring 7+ years of experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements in a corporate legal department, law firm, procurement, contract management, or related business environment.
  • Demonstrate strong experience negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, including vendor, technology, marketing, services, supply chain, licensing, or operational agreements.
  • Manage multiple complex contract matters simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
  • Communicate contract terms, risk tradeoffs, and recommended paths forward clearly to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and external business partners.
  • Apply practical business judgment when balancing legal risk, operational needs, stakeholder urgency, and company priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bring experience in franchise, restaurant, retail, technology, supply chain, or consumer-facing businesses preferred.
  • Bring experience with contract lifecycle management systems and legal operations processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor and supplier contracts, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, technology agreements, marketing agreements, licensing and manufacturing agreements, master service agreements, and other business and operational contracts.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contractual obligations, business risks, operational considerations, and recommended paths forward.
  • Own day-to-day contract lifecycle processes, including intake, review coordination, approval routing, renewal tracking, document organization, and process adherence.
  • Partner cross-functionally with legal, finance, procurement, marketing, IT, franchising, development, and operations teams to support strategic initiatives and business operations.
  • Identify contractual, operational, and compliance risks, escalate material issues, and help resolve contract-related matters in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Support franchise-related commercial matters, including contract interpretation, compliance follow-up, and coordination with franchising, operations, and development partners as needed.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, workflows, and standard processes to improve consistency, speed, and quality of contract review.
  • Lead improvements to contract management tools, workflows, and legal operations processes.
  • Communicate contract terms, risks, and obligations clearly to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to special projects and legal operations initiatives that improve contract governance, business support, and risk management.
