About The Position

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a Director, Automotive Industry Financing to join its Commercial Banking team in Windsor, Ontario. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned commercial banking professional to lead business development efforts within the automotive manufacturing sector, supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, tooling and fabrication companies, and industrial manufacturers across Ontario. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to business owners and executive teams, providing strategic financing solutions while building and managing a specialized commercial lending portfolio.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Equipment Finance, or Commercial Lending.
  • Proven success managing and growing complex commercial portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Experience working with automotive manufacturers, suppliers, industrial companies, or related sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business and cultivate long-term client relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to influence senior decision-makers and act as a trusted business advisor.
  • Sound business judgment and a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of commercial clients within the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Identify, originate, and structure complex financing solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Build relationships with business owners, executives, industry associations, and referral sources to generate new business opportunities.
  • Analyze financial statements, industry trends, and market conditions to assess risk and identify growth opportunities.
  • Structure and negotiate credit facilities including operating lines, revolving credit facilities, term loans, acquisition financing, and equipment financing.
  • Provide strategic advice related to capital structure, business expansion, ownership transitions, succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with internal credit, risk, legal, and operations teams to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure adherence to established credit and risk management standards.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the automotive industry and its evolving economic landscape.
