Our platforms support Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 organizations and are engineered for scale, reliability, and operational excellence Role Overview HPE Networking is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Security Operations to lead our Detection & Response, Enterprise Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) teams. This role reports to the Sr Director, CloudOps and Security and will define and execute our security operations strategy while building high-performing teams that protect HPE Networking cloud assets. You will oversee security operations for AI-powered SaaS platforms built on cloud-native architectures across AWS and GCP, ensuring production stability, system reliability, and operational excellence across large-scale distributed systems. This role owns four security domains and requires a leader who can operate with minimal direction, drive strategy, and deliver results in complex environments. As a senior member of the security leadership team, you will also serve as a succession candidate for broader organizational responsibility. This is a technical leadership role. While you will not write production code daily, you should be comfortable reviewing code, writing scripts, and engaging in technical problem-solving when needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in cybersecurity, with 5+ years leading multiple teams or managers.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to read and write code (Python preferred).
  • Experience building or maturing security programs and operational capabilities.
  • Proven decision-maker who can act decisively during critical incidents.
  • Excellent communicator able to engage engineers, executives, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy and minimal supervision.
  • Experience leading teams through major security incidents.
  • Deep expertise in Identity & Access Management at scale, particularly in AWS and GCP environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead a unified security operations strategy across Detection & Response, IT Security, IAM, and Cyber Threat Intelligence.
  • Mature and expand the Cyber Threat Intelligence program, including team development, intelligence processes, and integration with security operations.
  • Own the identity and access management strategy across corporate systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with Security, Engineering, IT, Legal, Trust & Safety, and executive leadership to align security priorities with company goals.
  • Ensure measurable outcomes and accountability across all four security domains.
  • Maintain strong technical depth to evaluate designs, challenge assumptions, and guide engineering decisions.
  • Engage hands-on when necessary, by reviewing detection logic, investigating incidents, auditing IAM configurations, or prototyping solutions.
  • Promote automation, scalability, and reliability across security operations.
  • Advise leadership on security risks, threat landscape, and operational health.
  • Provide executive visibility into security posture, investments, and key risks.
  • Translate threat intelligence into business-relevant insights.
  • Lead response and communication during major security incidents.
  • Represent HPE Networking security operations externally when appropriate.
