About The Position

At Capital One, our Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) organization is seeking a Director, Chief of Staff who will oversee the ESM Chief of Staff Team. The ESM Chief of Staff team helps ensure our day-to-day management system maximizes the value of our Enterprise Supplier Management operations. Through ongoing coordination with the executive leadership team, this team operates as the "connective tissue" of the organization. They help ensure we see the forest from the trees, and vice versa, by bringing our strategic initiatives into our daily, weekly, and monthly routines. This leader will play an integral part in maintaining a pulse on team health and ensuring we are enabling an environment where Associates can do their best work in a culture aligned with our Capital One values. This leader will report directly to the VP, Chief of Staff for the Chief Procurement Officer and provide critical leverage by delivering on the key responsibilities below while providing exemplary leadership to the CoS team team itself. Our ESM organization is responsible for the holistic relationship between Capital One and key third parties, enabling a well-managed and adaptable supply chain. In this role, you will work closely with both the executive leadership team and the key functional leaders supporting the various stages of our third party lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, Program Management, or a combination of the three
  • At least 5 years of people management experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner for our ESM leadership team, helping guide the operations and management of the organization.
  • Act as a central point of contact between the executive leadership team, as well as with the Chief of Staff team, and other key partners to ensure alignment of leaders across the organization.
  • Aid the leadership team in strategic planning, uncovering critical efficiencies and paving the path to help make the most out of each interaction and planning session.
  • Manage the ESM leadership and business routines to drive clarity, alignment, and momentum toward our strategic priorities.
  • Assist the leadership team with strategic planning including financial and resource planning in collaboration with key partners, including the Chief of Staff team, Finance, and HR.
  • Create and manage effective, scalable processes to manage operating rhythms. Requires an ability to lead and influence to inject new operational processes to drive executional discipline and excellence.
  • Creation of content required to enable strategic reviews, discussion, and decisions by our key leaders.
  • Work with the leadership team and communications team to plan and execute key messages and deliver to internal and external audiences with a high priority on consistent, frequent organizational communications.
  • Develop relationships within direct and extended team members to be able to act as an informed and helpful sounding board and thought partner.
  • Manage and track AAS results across ESM, and support strategy for improvements
  • Support ESM recruiting strategy (e.g. ESM roles, MRP roles) and pipeline including serving as the liaison between ESM leaders and Talent Acquisition as well as tracking and reporting on open roles and requisitions.
  • Oversee the strategy and efforts supporting associate engagement, morale, and organizational culture.
  • Lead a team of Chief of Staff Associates and inspire operational strategy work across the organization.
