Director, Category Management, Hims

Hims & Hers,
$200,000 - $240,000Remote

About The Position

Hims & Hers is seeking a Director, Category Management to lead initiatives that determine category success, focusing on key P&L drivers such as acquisition, retention, and new-treatment launches. This role involves strategic leadership across end-to-end initiatives, with a clear path to becoming a General Manager of a category. The position emphasizes long-term customer value through retention and cross-category adoption, rather than just acquisition. The Director will collaborate with clinical, pharmacy, regulatory, product, growth, analytics, and operations teams, ensuring data-driven decision-making and rapid iteration. The role reports to the General Manager, Hims, and partners with other GMs and Directors across the Hims & Hers portfolio, supported by Sr. Managers on Category Strategy & Analysis.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in category management, strategy & operations, general management, or a related role with real business accountability, ideally in a high-growth, cross-functional environment.
  • A track record of owning high-stakes initiatives or a P&L and driving them to measurable revenue, margin, or retention outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success launching and scaling new products or programs, from 0-to-1 and at scale.
  • Experience managing a portfolio and roadmap, including prioritizing competing bets, sequencing investment against a clear thesis, and making informed decisions.
  • Sharp analytical and financial fluency: ability to build and defend models and make decisions even with limited data.
  • Cross-functional leadership skills to align clinical, product, growth, and operations teams.
  • Bias to action: preference for Minimum Viable Product (MVP), learning, and iteration over over-engineering.
  • Ambition and range to grow into a GM role owning a category outright.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, management consulting, or background in top-tier tech (marketplace, on-demand, consumer platform).
  • DTC, telehealth, or consumer health experience, with men's health as a plus.
  • Experience with regulated healthcare products, pharmacy operations, or compounding.
  • People management experience.
  • Looker / Amplitude fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Category’s Biggest Levers: Take end-to-end ownership of initiatives that significantly impact the P&L, including acquisition, retention, conversion, and new-treatment launches, from strategy to execution and results.
  • Own the unit economics: Manage and optimize CAC, LTV, ARPU, submit-to-subscriber (S2S), and contribution margin.
  • Run initiatives as a portfolio: Frame opportunities, score trade-offs (impact vs. effort, must-have vs. nice-to-have), sequence the roadmap, and provide clear recommendations on priorities and timelines.
  • Drive Growth & Retention: Partner with growth and lifecycle teams to improve acquisition, S2S conversion, and retention across the customer funnel.
  • Shape the tech product roadmap: Collaborate with product and engineering to prioritize funnel, personalization, and experience investments that enhance conversion and retention, holding the roadmap accountable to category outcomes.
  • Convert single-treatment buyers into multi-specialty members: Drive cross-sell and long-term engagement strategies.
  • Build pricing, bundling, and merchandising strategies: Develop strategies that protect margin and LTV.
  • Launch & Scale New Treatments: Own the treatment development roadmap for categories, identifying, prioritizing, and sequencing new treatments, SKUs, form factors, and programs from business case to go-live.
  • Work with clinical, pharmacy, and regulatory teams: Ensure safe and fast market introduction of therapies.
  • Build repeatable launch playbooks: Develop standardized processes for launches.
  • Own the Customer Experience: Deliver a premium, empathetic, and destigmatizing end-to-end customer journey, balancing clinical rigor with a compassionate approach.
  • Pressure-test the customer journey: Evaluate the experience from first touch through fulfillment and ongoing care.
  • Pair qualitative insight with hard data: Identify and close experience gaps.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Align clinical, regulatory, product, growth, analytics, pharmacy, and operations teams behind initiatives.
  • Keep roadmaps reconciled: Ensure product and treatment roadmaps are aligned in a prioritized plan, setting clear priorities and success criteria.
  • Direct growth-ops and analytics resources: Act as a thought partner to Sr. Managers supporting the work.
  • Manage Performance: Own the scorecard for initiatives, including revenue, contribution margin, retention/churn, S2S, ARPU, and treatment adoption.
  • Set KPIs and success criteria: Define metrics for all initiatives and report performance in business reviews.
