The Director, Category Management & Sourcing, owns category leadership across assigned clinical and non-clinical spend at Unified Women’s Healthcare. This role sets category priorities, leads complex sourcing and contracting initiatives, and is accountable for financial and commercial outcomes across managed spend. Blending enterprise-level leadership with hands-on execution, the Director leads high-impact sourcing initiatives, complex negotiations, and contract structuring while ensuring savings, rebates, and commercial benefits are realized and tracked against budgets and financial goals. As a senior advisor to executive and functional leadership, the Director balances cost, risk, service, and operational needs in high-stakes purchasing decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field).
  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or related commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated ownership of large, complex spend portfolios with enterprise-level financial and operational impact.
  • Proven experience leading complex sourcing initiatives, negotiations, and contract structures with direct accountability for outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience tracking savings, rebates, and commercial outcomes against budgets and forecasts.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, technology, or multi-site service organizations strongly preferred.
  • Prior supplier-side, product, or commercial leadership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define and govern category strategy priorities across assigned clinical and non-clinical spend, aligned to enterprise objectives, financial goals, and operational needs.
  • Translate strategy into category-level investment decisions, sourcing priorities, and supplier strategies.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to executive and functional leaders, guiding complex tradeoff decisions across cost, risk, service levels, standardization, and long-term value.
  • Establish and enforce intake, prioritization, and decision frameworks to ensure disciplined, transparent sourcing decisions.
  • Review and approve category strategies and sourcing approaches to ensure consistency and focus across the portfolio.
  • Own enterprise procurement policies, standards, and governance frameworks to enable compliant, consistent, and value-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Lead high-impact sourcing initiatives from problem definition through supplier selection, including requirements development, market analysis, RFP design, evaluation methodologies, and negotiations.
  • Lead and close complex commercial negotiations involving pricing models, service-level commitments, risk allocation, escalation mechanisms, and performance remedies.
  • Establishes enterprise sourcing strategies, including competitive bidding, renewals, partnerships, or alternative commercial models, based on category strategy and business needs.
  • Partner closely with Legal to review, redline, and negotiate complex commercial and operational contract terms, ensuring alignment with category strategy, financial objectives, and risk tolerance.
  • Serve as the escalation point for sourcing and contracting decisions with enterprise-wide financial, operational, or reputational impact.
  • Own enterprise accountability for supplier performance, commercial compliance, and financial value realization across managed categories.
  • Establish and oversee supplier performance frameworks, including KPIs, scorecards, and structured business reviews for critical suppliers.
  • Sets standards for the remediation, renegotiation, or supplier transitions when performance, economics, or risk profiles change.
  • Track sourcing outcomes, savings, rebates, and commercial benefits against budgets, forecasts, and financial targets in partnership with Finance and analytics teams.
  • Ensure financial outcomes are durable, measurable, and accurately reflected in budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Uphold procurement governance and ensure compliant, ethical sourcing practices across the enterprise.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, Legal, and Medical Affiliates to support informed purchasing and investment decisions.
  • Support the evolution of category management capabilities and organizational structure as the function scales.
