About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Oncology, the Director, Cancer Treatment Services provides senior operational and strategic leadership for ambulatory oncology services at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. Working in close partnership with physician leadership, professional practice leaders, operational teams, and regional and provincial stakeholders, the Director is accountable for advancing high-quality, patient- and family-centred cancer care through operational excellence, quality improvement, workforce engagement, innovation, academic collaboration, and financial stewardship. The Director oversees a large and complex portfolio that includes ambulatory oncology operations, systemic and radiation therapy services, supportive care, operational integration, patient flow, and ambulatory transformation initiatives across the cancer program. The role plays a key leadership function in advancing integrated models of care, improving access and operational performance, supporting digital modernization, and leading strategic operational initiatives aligned with organizational and provincial priorities. The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative and systems-oriented healthcare leader with demonstrated experience leading complex operational environments, organizational transformation, interdisciplinary teams, and quality improvement initiatives within a large healthcare or academic setting. This role requires a leader who is comfortable navigating complexity, building strong partnerships, leading change, and supporting innovation while maintaining a strong focus on patient experience, staff engagement, operational sustainability, and quality outcomes. The Director serves as Chair of the JCC Quality and Operations Committee and participates in broader organizational leadership initiatives supporting ambulatory operations, patient flow, strategic planning, and operational integration across Hamilton Health Sciences. These responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission, values, and strategic priorities of Hamilton Health Sciences and Ontario Health.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Health Sciences, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience within a complex healthcare environment, preferably within oncology or ambulatory care at an academic health sciences centre
  • Demonstrated experience working within the Ontario healthcare and/or cancer system
  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare operations, financial management, performance metrics, and strategic planning
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and effectively engage physicians, staff, operational leaders, academic partners, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, patient safety principles, and operational performance management
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change, operational transformation, and innovation within complex interdisciplinary environments
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and relationship management
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, academic collaboration, and evidence-informed leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting digital transformation, operational redesign, or implementation of integrated models of care is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of hereditary cancer programs, precision oncology, and evolving models of genetics-informed cancer care is considered an asset.
