Director, Business Systems & Manufacturing Applications (25770)

NEOTECHLos Angeles, CA
$135,000 - $145,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Director, Business Systems & Manufacturing Applications will lead NEOTech’s internal business systems capability, providing execution leadership, governance, business alignment, and roadmap advisory support for core manufacturing platforms including Epicor, Aegis, BI/reporting, integrations, AI-enabled solutions, and future ERP / MES platforms. This role bridges business operations and technology execution while establishing NEOTech’s internal execution ownership of system priorities, process design, acceptance criteria, data governance, vendor accountability, and long-term systems standardization, in alignment with the Business Systems Strategy approved by IT Executive Management. In addition, the role will build and lead a small internal development team that engineers AI-enabled solutions across these platforms — turning NEOTech’s data, process, and shop-floor foundation into automation, analytics, and decision-support tools that produce measurable business value. This is a hybrid role requiring regular onsite work at one of the following locations: Chatsworth, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Longmont, CO; or Westborough, MA

Requirements

  • 10+ years of ERP, MES, or business systems leadership in manufacturing.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience with plant-level operational exposure.
  • Direct experience with ERP modernization, upgrade, stabilization, or migration programs.
  • Working knowledge of MES/shop-floor systems, preferably Aegis or comparable platforms.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments such as medical, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability industrial manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional business process standardization.
  • Experience managing vendors, systems integrators, and outsourced IT providers.
  • Strong executive communication and practical decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on technical depth in software development and/or ERP customization (e.g., Epicor BPMs, BAQs, dashboards, customizations, integrations) sufficient to credibly direct, review, and challenge the work of a development team — even if no longer hands-on day to day.
  • Experience directly managing software developers, engineers, or analysts — including hiring, performance management, technical mentorship, and prioritization across competing business demands.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Epicor / Kinetic experience.
  • Aegis MES experience.
  • M&A integration, carve-out, or systems diligence experience.
  • ITAR/CUI, FDA-regulated manufacturing, ISO, AS9100, or comparable compliance exposure.
  • BI/data governance and manufacturing KPI experience.
  • Experience building a business systems center of excellence.
  • Private-equity or portfolio-company operating environment experience.
  • Experience standing up or scaling an in-house development team (full-stack, data, integration, or automation engineers) in a manufacturing or enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to applied AI / ML projects in manufacturing or enterprise settings — e.g., document and data extraction, demand or production forecasting, scheduling optimization, quality vision, or LLM-based automation.
  • Earlier-career hands-on development background (software engineering, data engineering, or deep ERP technical work) before moving into systems leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Business Systems Strategy approved by IT Executive Management.
  • Own the execution roadmap for ERP, MES, BI/reporting, integrations, AI-enabled business systems capabilities, and related manufacturing applications.
  • Translate approved business systems strategy and business goals into system priorities, process improvements, delivery plans, governance routines, and executable roadmaps.
  • Actively support IT Executive Management in defining, refining, and governing Business Systems Strategy by providing operational insight, platform analysis, process impact assessments, risk views, and implementation considerations.
  • Prepare fact-based recommendations for IT Executive Management on future platform options, recognizing that current systems may not automatically remain the long-term enterprise standard.
  • Maintain visibility to priorities, dependencies, risks, sequencing, resource needs, vendor requirements, and business readiness across business systems initiatives.
  • Ensure business systems execution supports organic growth, operational improvement, manufacturing standardization, AI-enabled productivity opportunities, and future acquisition integration.
  • Serve as senior business owner for Epicor execution, roadmap delivery, prioritization, UAT, training, go-live readiness, stabilization, and fact-based recommendations on future Epicor direction.
  • Drive standardization where appropriate across plants while documenting justified local exceptions.
  • Prioritize upstream fixes that improve planning, demand signals, inventory, routings, BOMs, costing, and production execution.
  • Own execution of the approved business roadmap for Aegis and related shop-floor systems.
  • Ensure MES decisions align with Epicor, quality, traceability, production, engineering, and compliance needs.
  • Lead process design across quote-to-cash, plan-to-produce, procure-to-pay, engineer-to-order/NPI, inventory, quality, finance, and costing.
  • Define standard process models that can scale across divisions, plants, and acquisitions.
  • Ensure business process decisions are documented and governed before system changes are approved.
  • Own business data definitions and reporting governance across Epicor, Aegis, BI, and future systems.
  • Protect critical reporting during upgrades and establish a single-source-of-truth approach for key metrics.
  • Partner with BI/data resources to improve reporting integrity and executive visibility.
  • Within the AI governance, cybersecurity, data protection, and platform direction established by IT Executive Management, build and lead a small internal development team focused on engineering AI-enabled solutions for the business — including automation, analytics, document and data extraction, decision support, and integration tooling across Epicor, Aegis, and BI.
  • Establish a disciplined intake, prioritization, and delivery model for AI and automation initiatives — tied to clear business sponsors, success metrics, and measurable ROI rather than technology for its own sake.
  • Set technical direction for the development team — architecture, tooling, code quality, data access, security, and integration patterns — in partnership with IT Executive Management, IT Architecture, Security, and approved enterprise standards.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain developers and AI/automation engineers; balance in-house build vs. vendor or partner delivery based on cost, speed, and long-term ownership.
  • Ensure AI and automation solutions are built responsibly — with appropriate human review, auditability, and compliance with ITAR/CUI, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide business systems oversight for On Support, Epicor, Aegis, BI partners, systems integrators, and AI/automation partners to ensure vendor execution aligns with NEOTech-approved strategy, priorities, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define requirements, acceptance criteria, escalation paths, and performance expectations.
  • Reduce single-vendor dependency by building internal knowledge, documentation, and decision rights.
  • Develop a repeatable approach for evaluating acquired companies’ ERP, MES, BI, quality, and shop-floor systems.
  • Support diligence, integration planning, coexistence, rationalization, and standardization decisions.
  • Create playbooks for system integration and transition without disrupting manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure system roadmaps account for aerospace, defense, medical, quality, traceability, and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, Security, and Compliance on ITAR/CUI, auditability, access, controls, and documentation.
  • Make system risks visible to executive leadership with practical mitigation plans.
