Director, Business System – Innovation Execution
About The Position
This position is a foundational leadership role within Johnson Controls’ innovation ecosystem, with the mission to accelerate growth from innovation. The leader will help accelerate innovation projects, remove executional barriers, and ensure their timely delivery to the market. This role involves leading the creation of standard work for project management and innovation execution, assessing the current maturity of innovation execution, and coaching project managers and teams on applying the business system for faster and better execution of key innovation projects. The role also includes leading problem-solving to identify and resolve systematic problems across innovation projects, identifying and sharing best practices for faster and better execution, and facilitating improvement workshops (Kaizen) to accelerate specific projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
- Evidence in delivering results in innovation or new product development (NPD)
- Demonstrated success using Lean or Continuous Improvement in project management to deliver business results
- Experience in operating effectively in large, complex, matrixed organizations – delivering results through people.
Nice To Haves
- MBA preferred
- Certified Practitioner in Visual Project Management (VPM) strongly preferred
- Experience in compressing NPD projects is a plus
- Experience in facilitating large and complex improvement workshops is a plus
- Experience in developing people is a plus
- P&L leadership, strategic planning experience, or domain expertise strongly preferred
Responsibilities
