About The Position

The Global Security Team focuses on driving greater business resilience from complex cyber-attacks and physical threats, while enabling best-in-class identification and management of risk. Our team is integral to protecting RBC's digital assets and brand, its employees, and clients' trust, globally. Reporting to the Director, Global Security Planning office, the Director, Business Management (Global Security), will serve as a strategic financial partner and portfolio advisor to Global Security leadership, driving financial performance, optimizing cost management, and enabling data-driven business decisions for the cost center.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of financial, business management, or FP&A experience, preferably in a cost center or complex business environment
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and business judgment; ability to translate financial data into strategic business recommendations
  • Proven expertise in strong relationship management skills with ability to build trust and credibility with C-level executives and technical teams
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen; comfort operating independently and making recommendations without escalation
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences
  • Proficiency in Excel (including modeling); strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • CFA/CPA/MBA or equivalent advanced financial qualification
  • Experience with AI, automation, or advanced analytics tools to drive operational efficiency
  • Portfolio management experience greater than $50MM+
  • Background in cost management or business operations

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end portfolio financial management for assigned business units/VPs, serving as their trusted advisor on all financial matters, budget trade-offs, and resource allocation decisions
  • Drive C-level relationship management by presenting complex financial narratives to executives, articulating business implications, and providing forward-looking financial recommendations that shape strategic decisions
  • Manage real-time budget tracking and optimization by monitoring actuals against plan, identifying variances and emerging business needs, and recommending reprioritization or additional funding opportunities
  • Conduct strategic portfolio analysis to identify cost savings opportunities, operational efficiencies, and risks; provide data-driven recommendations on budget adjustments and resource optimization
  • Partner with Finance and technical stakeholders to ensure portfolio governance, accurate forecasting, contract/invoice management, and alignment with annual planning
  • Drive financial and operational effectiveness by leveraging advanced analytics, AI/automation capabilities, and data insights to track efficiency gains and inform business optimization
  • Lead annual planning and budgeting cycles for assigned portfolio, ensuring financial targets align with business strategy while maintaining fiscal discipline
