About The Position

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value-added services. From actionable ideas to highly tailored financing solutions, M&A advice, and a strong line-up of capital markets and treasury services, CIBC Capital Markets can provide the capabilities clients need to capitalize on opportunities and manage risk. As a Director, Business Management, you will play a key role in driving the Business Management function for Global Equities. This includes partnering with the business (front office) and stakeholders across CIBC to support strategy execution, enhance business performance, and drive operational excellence. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with capital markets experience, who thrives in cross-functional environments and excels at leading initiatives that support the business across multiple areas, including day-to-day execution, new business initiatives, communications, governance, technology, procurement, and other operational priorities. Working on the trading floor in our Toronto office with senior professionals in a progressive team environment, the successful candidate will complete tasks that impact the firm's top and bottom lines, interacting directly with traders, salespeople, and infrastructure groups in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least 3 years of experience in Capital Markets or in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Capital Markets products and processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Efficient organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines while balancing multiple complex priorities.
  • Strong organization, planning and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and infrastructure teams to implement strategic initiatives and manage project execution.
  • Support management by preparing presentations and performance models.
  • Partner with Finance to deliver analyses and reports.
  • Respond to day-to-day business needs, and lead project management for new initiatives, including Change Initiatives Risk Assessments (CIRAs).
  • Coordinate and oversee governance functions for the business, including user access, contracts, risk, and controls.
  • Ensure that risk delegations and Authorized Product Lists are consistently maintained and up-to-date.
  • Promptly coordinate and respond to auditor and regulator requests, findings, and reports.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and implement improvements to internal procedures and practices.
  • Investigate, document, and report on incidents and errors to support continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a compliance liaison by supporting registrations, continuing education, and supervisory procedures.
  • Work with the Business Manager to provide insight on key cost-drivers by collaborating with business partners and stakeholders in Finance, Technology, Infrastructure, and other areas.
  • Review, validate, and approve invoices from vendors and partners.
  • Manage Global Markets intranet resources and act on ad hoc requests and projects as required.
