About The Position

The Director, Business Development Utility-scale Development, West will support directly the west regional development group in the US, working on market, customer, and policy intelligence, regional portfolio management and assessment, leading critical business initiatives, including, product pricing, competitive analysis, M&A support of utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects in the US. The Director, Business Development will play a key role in ensuring implementation of regional targets, and regionally portfolio management, achieving and reporting relevant operational OKRs. The position directly reports to the regional VP of Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, business/economics, or relevant fields
  • 11 years of work experience applicable to renewable energy infrastructure, direct experience in renewables
  • Minimum of 3 years leading a team
  • Professional energy analytic background a plus
  • External relationships with customers, competitors, policy/regulators makers is a strong preference
  • Strong knowledge in key areas, including energy markets, prospecting, project development, engineering, or construction
  • Proven analytic & strategic mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional portfolio management analysis to assess pipeline strength or deficiencies relative to regional growth targets, considering all aspects from pure development to commercial
  • Drive regional implementation of mid to long-term strategic targets (both through organic and inorganic growth), ensuring target achievement by understanding both internal and external success factors
  • Provide strategic regional analysis, assessing e.g. customers, markets, competitors, interconnection queues
  • Serve as strategic lead for complex initiatives, including M&A and new market entry
  • Forecast regional financial and non-financial obligations (e.g. interconnection including LCs), including relative approval needs and process
  • Spearhead quarterly development planning and define OKRs in alignment with regional strategy
  • Lead regional budgeting and forecasting, manage portfolio-level budgets, and proactively communicate risks
  • Represent the business development function in executive forums and provide leadership-level insights and recommendations
  • Develop all supporting approval / board documentation for project approvals
