Director Business Development - Advanced Drug Delivery

PCI Pharma ServicesPhiladelphia, PA
Hybrid

About The Position

This position represents a precision capability insertion aligned to PCI's next phase of commercial maturity in the Advanced Drug Delivery (ADD) space. As part of a strategic expansion of commercial capability, this role is designed to accelerate growth within injectable device assembly by enhancing pipeline quality, improving Phase III capture rates, and strengthening PCI's ability to secure integrated clinical-to-commercial programs. Operating as a solutions advisor and opportunity architect, this Product Sales Director (PSD) will function in close orchestration with Development & Manufacturing (D&M), Clinical Trial Services (CTS), and Commercial Sales teams, reinforcing a unified "One PCI" market approach while preserving existing account ownership structures. This is not a traditional sales role — Core Business Development teams retain opportunity ownership and transactional execution responsibilities, while the PSD enhances opportunity quality, technical credibility, and strategic positioning. The primary objective is to increase PCI's share of high-value injectable device programs by influencing device strategy earlier in the product lifecycle. This role will serve as a targeted overlay resource focused on engaging device teams within pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical organizations developing injectable therapies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 10-15 years of related experience and training in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical business development, with demonstrated expertise in Advanced Drug Delivery or injectable device technologies
  • Proven track record of engaging and influencing decision-makers at pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical organizations, particularly within device and combination product teams
  • Deep understanding of injectable device assembly, drug-device combination products, and the pharmaceutical outsourcing landscape
  • Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles within large pharmaceutical organizations
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce experience strongly preferred)
  • Full professional proficiency: ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs
  • High reasoning ability: capacity to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret instructions provided in various forms
  • Working closely with Technical Sales team on opportunity architecture skills — ability to shape deal strategy and identify integrated solution opportunities
  • Strong collaborative orientation with demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams
  • Professional presence and executive maturity — ability to represent PCI at the highest organizational levels
  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization capabilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 50% annually)
