About The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President Business & Finance and Chief Financial Officer, the Budget Director manages the day-to-day operations of the Budget Department. Plans, organizes, and manages applicable functional areas in support of university objectives.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of progressive budgetary/financial experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership responsibilities required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel required.
  • Highly developed problem-solving, decision making, organizational and analytical skills required.
  • Demonstrated professionalism with meticulous attention to detail required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Workday and Adaptive Planning experience in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee long-range planning and development of the university's budget.
  • Analyze budget verses actuals and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Manages and allocates resources in a fair and transparent manner.
  • Manage the execution of the budget, including the preparation, training and maintenance of the operating and capital budgets.
  • Guides schools and centers through the annual budget cycle and the establishment and oversight of their budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and manage the university's financial resources effectively.
  • Manage the budget office staff, ensuring they meet the university's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to budget management.
  • Models the impact of established and anticipated policy and programmatic changes.
  • Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to ensure the budget aligns with the university's mission and goals.
  • Lead budget workstream and integration in IT platforms.
  • Convenes University budget/finance administrators on a frequent basis to provide updates, direction and support.

Benefits

  • Compensation: Starting salary is $110,000; final compensation will be commensurate with experience.
