About The Position

This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and leading Nordstrom Beauty’s education function from the ground up. As Nordstrom evolves to a brand-agnostic, service-led model, this role exists to define what “good” looks like on the floor—and to build the systems, curriculum, and field partnerships that ensure it shows up consistently across every store. Education is the lever. Performance and execution are the outcome.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in education, learning & development, or capability building—with demonstrated success building programs from scratch
  • Proven track record of connecting education directly to commercial outcomes such as sales productivity, conversion, and service attachment
  • Experience in store operations or customer-facing retail environments; credibility with field teams is essential
  • Strong team-building and people leadership skills, with experience hiring and developing high-performing teams
  • Hands-on builder mentality—willing to step in and create when needed, not just oversee

Responsibilities

  • Define the education vision and build the curriculum architecture across onboarding, ongoing education, and certification
  • Hire and lead an initial team of 2 FTE, establishing clear roles, priorities, and operating rhythms—with plans to scale as the model is proven
  • Own adoption, not just delivery—building reinforcement mechanisms including certification, coaching loops, and field feedback systems
  • Establish service and selling standards that define how teams engage and service customers, and integrate those standards into all education programs
  • Spend meaningful time in-store to pressure-test curriculum and partner with field leadership to close execution gaps
  • Lead the transition from vendor-led to Nordstrom-owned education, ensuring consistency and brand-agnostic capability across locations
