About The Position

The Director of Asset Protection (AP) & Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) leads and develops a team of approximately 15, with enterprise responsibility for AP and EHS performance across our Supply Chain (SC) network including Distribution Centers (DC) and transportation functions. This role partners closely with DC and Supply Chain leadership to deploy an integrated AP/EHS strategy that protects Team Members, customers, physical assets, and company reputation while enabling operational excellence. The Director is accountable for shrink reduction, inventory integrity, safety and security, fraud prevention, investigations, cash handling, regulatory compliance, and incident response, while also providing long-term strategic vision and real-time leadership during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of AP and EHS strategy, investigations, and incident response in a multi-unit retail and logistics environment
  • Proven ability to lead leaders and deliver results across large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong conflict management and decision-making skills, including the ability to operate independently in high-stress situations
  • Proficient project planning and execution skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data-driven reporting tools
  • Deep understanding of internal investigation methodologies in a retail environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and continuously improve regional AP & EHS strategies aligned with enterprise goals and Field Operations priorities.
  • Partner with Vice Presidents, DC Operations Leaders, Retail Operations Leaders, and cross-functional leaders to align AP/EHS strategy, performance expectations, and communications.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and incident management.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 15 AP/EHS leaders, holding them accountable for measurable results.
  • Attract, hire, train, motivate, and retain top talent; serve as teacher, mentor, and coach to build leadership capability at all levels.
  • Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement consistent with leadership competencies and cultural beliefs.
  • Oversee all AP activities, including shrink reduction, inventory availability, return fraud, cash handling, internal and external investigations, and abuse prevention.
  • Review and analyze shrink, accident, and incident data to identify trends, root causes, and preventive actions.
  • Audit AP programs for compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify common health and safety hazards and establish standards, controls, and prevention strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage internal safety and environmental programs in compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, DHS, and other applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Risk, Legal, Supply Chain, Transportation, and Claims teams to mitigate ongoing risks and reduce claim frequency and severity.
  • Oversee internal and third-party audits for safety, health, and environmental compliance and lead corrective action planning.
  • Serve as the primary AP/EHS point of contact for assigned Operations teams, Regional and Area support staffs, Logistics teams, and Asset Protection partners.
  • Work side-by-side with field teams to ensure practical, executable solutions that support safe operations and customer confidence.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of store and logistics operations, including duties, workflows, and operational risk points.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in AP and EHS incident response, providing immediate guidance during emergencies while managing long-term corrective strategies.
  • Ensure consistent communication, documentation, and follow-up for critical incidents.
