About The Position

We are seeking a Director, Asset Manager Audit & Due Diligence to join our team. This role will be responsible for executing operational due diligence reviews and audit assessments of external asset managers, investment managers, fund sponsors, and strategic investment partners. The position will play a critical role in evaluating governance, operational infrastructure, financial controls, compliance programs, valuation processes, and overall operational risk. This position will report to the Head of Global Operations. The role will be located in Minneapolis / London.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting, internal audit, operational due diligence, risk advisory, or financial services auditing.
  • Experience evaluating internal controls, financial statements, and operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment frameworks, and control testing.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed due diligence reports and executive summaries.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting operational due diligence reviews of asset managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, private credit managers, real estate managers, or other alternative investment firms.
  • Familiarity with alternative investment structures, fund operations, valuation practices, and investment management workflows.
  • Knowledge of SEC-registered investment adviser requirements and industry best practices.
  • Additional certifications such as CIA, CFA, CAIA, or CISA.
  • Experience reviewing SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational due diligence reviews of external asset managers, loan originators, servicers, and other investment counterparties.
  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of control environments, governance structures, risk management frameworks, compliance programs, and operational processes.
  • Review audited financial statements, regulatory filings, SOC reports, compliance policies, and other due diligence materials.
  • Assess key functions including accounting, valuations, group operations, cash management and wire controls, cybersecurity, business continuity, and vendor oversight.
  • Perform onsite and virtual due diligence meetings with senior management and key control personnel of investment managers.
  • Identify operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risks and document findings in comprehensive due diligence reports.
  • Support ongoing monitoring of approved managers through periodic reviews, event-driven assessments, and risk-based monitoring activities.
  • Collaborate with investment, legal, compliance, risk, and operations teams to support manager selection and monitoring decisions.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing due diligence methodologies, frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks affecting alternative investment managers.
