About The Position

The Director, Architect sets architecture direction for the Investment Management/Fund Services Pod and operates within the Investment Excellence Portfolio. The role defines standards and patterns, guides target-state roadmaps and resolves cross-initiative and cross-solution architectural complexity (dependencies, integration, sequencing, and technical debt) to enable delivery through clear standards and guardrails. Translates enterprise standards into actionable guidance for modern, high-performance financial systems.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading architecture across complex, enterprise-scale financial services portfolios (solution and/or domain).
  • Strong capability in governance, standards, target-state design, integration, and roadmap definition.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes across multiple teams without direct line authority.
  • Skilled in facilitating trade-offs and risk decisions while balancing strategic coherence with delivery pragmatism.
  • Architectural understanding of the end-to-end investment lifecycle, from front-office (portfolio construction, quantitative modeling, order management) and middle-office (risk analytics, compliance) to back-office (NAV calculation, fund accounting).
  • Strong knowledge of Wealth Management/Capital Markets and the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience with end-to-end technical solutions and business processes to support Mutual Funds, ETFs, and Institutional SMAs.
  • Knowledge of diverse asset classes and their data structures, including public global equities, fixed income, derivatives, and private markets.
  • Previous experience working with Global Asset Managers and Market vendors such as CIBCM, BNY, Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet etc and the data associated with these systems and solutions.
  • Previous experience with Accounting Book of Record and Investment Book of Record solutions and awareness of the technology stacks
  • Experience delivering capabilities involving packaged / SaaS solutions.
  • Awareness of integration platforms including MuleSoft and/or others.
  • Awareness of the technology stack used in capital markets, investment and/or wealth management.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise data architecture, including relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud data platforms like Google BigQuery or Snowflake.
  • Experience designing high-performance analytics systems, with an awareness of parallel computing techniques (e.g., using NumPy, Pandas, multi-threading, NVIDIA CUDA for large-scale data processing)
  • Fluent working in Jira, Confluence, Kanban and Sprint Boards
  • Familiarity with leveraging AI agentic solutions (OpenClaw, AgentSH, etc.), MCP servers and prompt context optimization

Responsibilities

  • Set architecture direction for the Investment Management/Fund Services pod to ensure alignment to enterprise standards, technology strategy, and business priorities.
  • Define and govern domain standards, patterns, and reference architectures and designs for building resilient, scalable, and secure buy-side applications (including technology guardrails).
  • Define and evolve the Domain Target Architecture and target-state roadmap focusing on modernizing platforms for portfolio analytics, fund services, and data management and aligning sequencing and technology investments to multi-year priorities.
  • Resolve complex cross-solution architectural issues (low latency data integration, system interoperability and dependencies between front, middle, and back-office platforms) and drive pragmatic decisions on trade-offs and risk.
  • Guide and coach others, ensuring consistent application of architectural principles focused on secure high-performance engineering and quality expectations without direct people management.
  • Identify architectural risk and technical debt and sponsor remediation and modernization plans from legacy systems to modern, cloud-native solutions.
  • Lead the design of data-centric solutions, ensuring auditable data lineage and robust governance for all financial calculations, trading decisions, and ledger adjustments.
  • Participate in architecture chapter activities (e.g., standards, patterns, knowledge sharing, and peer reviews) to strengthen practice consistency and capability maturity
