About The Position

This position provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and performance management for a team of programmer/analysts and data engineers supporting university applications, business systems, and data integration needs. The role involves mentoring staff in problem analysis, programming best practices, data protection/compliance, and office procedures. It also includes setting priorities, assigning and scheduling work to ensure projects, upgrades, problem resolutions, and integrations are accomplished. The Director will coordinate project work, establish realistic goals, and work with staff to support ERP systems and resolve problems. Collaboration with functional offices (Admissions, Finance, HR, Registrar, etc.) is essential to ensure solutions meet business requirements. The role chairs the Business Systems Management Committee, helping to set goals, timelines, and direction for system development and support. Oversight of adherence to development methodologies, documentation standards, and change-management processes is required, along with setting standards for application and database development. The Director will work with staff to track and document system development and support for business continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology
  • Five years' experience working in a team environment developing and supporting database driven software applications
  • Demonstrated competency in one or more programming languages
  • Experience developing queries and views in SQL
  • Experience in data reporting
  • Experience using database systems such as MS SQL Server
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate technical procedures and concepts, both in writing and verbally to individuals without a technical background
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of quality customer service

  • experience developing in Visual Studio in Visual C a plus
  • experience using SSRS is a plus
  • experience working in higher education is a plus
