About The Position

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 40% (3 days a week in office), subject to change.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 5+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 7+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own procurement strategies for major data center equipment categories (e.g., UPS systems, generators, switchgear, power distribution units, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, & HAC).
  • Conduct project assessments, regional segmentation, and cost modeling to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Lead RFx processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ) from requirements gathering through supplier selection and contract execution.
  • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, benchmarking regional projects, and long‑term sourcing roadmaps in partnership with Category teams.
  • Establish and manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, capacity, delivery performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct weekly reviews (WBRs), risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with suppliers on New Product Introduction (NPI), scaling production capacity, and engineering alignment across regional projects.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for project specifics, enforce master supply agreements, service-level expectations
  • Ensure compliance with legal, commercial, and operational standards.
  • Mitigate supply chain and geopolitical risks through multi-sourcing, inventory planning, and long-term strategy.
  • Work with Data Center Engineering to translate technical requirements into project specific procurement specifications.
  • Coordinate with Construction & Planning teams to align delivery schedules with build milestones.
  • Partner with Cost & Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Oversee purchase order execution, logistics coordination, and delivery performance.
  • Identify and resolve supply disruptions, long‑lead constraints, and material shortages.
  • Monitor global supply chain trends (metals, electronics, energy, logistics) and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Builds and leads high‑performing, diverse teams by fostering trust, inclusion, and a culture of accountability.
  • Provides clear direction, communicates priorities effectively, and ensures alignment to organizational goals.
