About The Position

Rare Beauty Brands (RBB), a prestige skincare company with a portfolio that includes Kate Somerville, Patchology, and Good Day, is hiring a Director, AI Transformation to move the company from individual use of AI tools toward embedding AI and automation into its business processes. The role works across brand, digital and ecommerce, marketing, supply chain, finance, and people, partnering with department heads to identify operational friction and design, build, and deploy solutions that improve scalability, efficiency, profitability, or growth. The position reports directly to the President & CEO and works day-to-day with the full executive leadership team. It is an individual-contributor role to start, with responsibility for proving value using existing tools and building internal capability rather than establishing a large team or expense base. The Director will identify and prioritize opportunities by business impact, effort, and risk; build or direct the development of AI agents, automations, and integrations; and own the technical architecture, including system connections, data locations, access, and guardrails. The role also leads process redesign, training, documentation, adoption tracking, and internal capability development. It owns AI governance, policy, the AI governance group, the agent and tool registry, data protection, vendor security and privacy reviews, shadow-AI management, incident response, and applicable privacy and AI regulatory compliance. The Director will define and report standardized outcome metrics, keep the CEO and executive leadership team informed about results and risks, and identify opportunities to apply developments in AI to the business. The position is full-time and fully remote. It may be based in states where RBB is registered: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. The stated annual salary range is $130,000–$150,000, plus bonus potential. The role includes a 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and paid time off including company-wide self-care days. The company describes ownership over a growing function at a fast-moving, founder-led beauty brand incubator.

  • Lead change management, training, documentation, adoption tracking, and process redesign to support adoption.
  • Build internal AI and automation capability so the company becomes more self-sufficient.
  • Own AI governance and chair a governance group comprising the CEO, selected executive leadership team members, and HR.
  • Update and maintain the AI policy, covering acceptable use, approved tools, data handling, customer-facing brand safety, and required human review.
  • Maintain a registry of AI agents, automations, and tools, documenting each item's business owner, purpose, system and data access, cost, and review date; ensure nothing goes live unregistered.
  • Set safeguards for agents that take actions, including least-privilege access, limits on spending or changes, logging, and a rapid shutdown method.
  • Protect company and customer data by classifying sensitive information, controlling access, and conducting security and privacy reviews of AI vendors before contracting.
  • Identify shadow AI use, bring useful tools into approved channels, and retire risky tools.
  • Own the response to agent errors, data exposure, and unexpected behavior, including detection, remediation, and reporting.
  • Track applicable privacy and AI regulations and maintain compliance.
  • Define metrics for each major initiative before it starts and report results such as hours saved, costs avoided, revenue lifted, and cycle time reduced.
  • Provide the CEO and executive leadership team with regular reporting on initiative performance, next steps, and AI risk, including registry status, reviews, and incidents.
  • Continually identify disruption opportunities and translate AI developments into execution plans for the company.
