About The Position

The Director, Advisor Relations & Gift Planning plays a key leadership role within the Office of Philanthropy, advancing California Community Foundation's engagement with professional advisors and overseeing planned and complex giving strategies. This position serves as CCF's primary relationship manager for attorneys, financial planners, CPAs, trust officers, and wealth managers, helping connect charitable giving opportunities with the philanthropic goals of donors and their advisors. The Director also provides expertise in planned giving, legacy gifts, complex assets, and donor-advised fund strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced credential or degree in philanthropy, estate planning, financial planning, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in planned giving, gift planning, advisor relations, or a related fundraising field.
  • Experience working with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and high-net-worth donors.
  • Strong knowledge of planned giving vehicles and complex gift strategies.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of planned giving, charitable gift strategies, and donor-advised funds.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, attorneys, CPAs, wealth advisors, and other professional partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing donor portfolios, cultivating prospects, and stewarding legacy gifts.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and team development abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and donor tracking tools.
  • Ability to explain complex financial and legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and represent the organization professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Build and strengthen relationships with professional advisors throughout Greater Los Angeles.
  • Develop and execute strategies that generate donor referrals, planned gifts, and philanthropic partnerships.
  • Manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and legacy donors.
  • Serve as an internal resource on planned giving vehicles, bequests, charitable trusts, donor-advised funds, and complex asset gifts.
  • Partner with donors, advisors, and internal teams to facilitate charitable gift planning opportunities.
  • Lead advisor-focused educational events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor the Officer, Advisor Relations & Gift Planning.
  • Represent CCF at industry events and within the philanthropic community.
