About The Position

The Director, Accounting Policy will lead the company’s accounting policy, technical interpretation, and complex transaction advisory functions across global operations, ensuring compliance with IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and SEC reporting requirements. This role partners closely with leadership to maintain the integrity and consistency of accounting practices across multiple jurisdictions and provide authoritative guidance on technical accounting matters. You will play a critical role in supporting strategic initiatives such as M&A, joint ventures, and financing structures in a high-growth environment. You’ll oversee financial due diligence, policy alignment, and purchase accounting for transactions, while preparing technical accounting memos, monitoring evolving standards, and managing auditor and regulatory interactions.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, including leadership experience
  • Strong expertise in technical accounting, M&A, and financial reporting under IFRS and U.S. GAAP
  • Experience managing complex accounting areas such as consolidations, leases, and revenue recognition
  • Proven ability to build and scale reporting processes across multiple entities and jurisdictions
  • Experience implementing new accounting standards and driving policy adoption
  • Strong understanding of SOX and internal control frameworks
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead M&A transaction workstreams, including financial due diligence, policy alignment, and purchase accounting
  • Interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance for complex transactions (revenue recognition, business combinations, stock-based compensation, debt/equity, leases)
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical memos, and position papers
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and lead implementation across the business
  • Support preparation and review of U.S. GAAP financial statements and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), including MD&A
  • Build processes for dual IFRS and U.S. GAAP reporting and consolidation
  • Establish governance and documentation frameworks for future public company readiness
  • Design and implement internal controls aligned with SOX 404 requirements
  • Partner with auditors and advisors to ensure audit readiness and compliance
  • Advise Finance leadership and stakeholders on accounting implications of strategic initiatives
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and Corporate Development on transaction structuring
  • Provide technical training and guidance to finance teams
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters
  • Support Audit Committee materials related to accounting policies and judgments
  • Contribute to internal control design and documentation
  • Drive process improvements to standardize and scale accounting operations
  • Promote automation and innovation in accounting workflows
  • Support system integration and operational scalability
