About The Position

To provide highly specialized support services in areas of technical expertise that is needed within each learning community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in education leadership and/or administration and supervision or completion within two (2) years of employment.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or have applied to obtain a Florida teaching certificate.
  • Three (3) years of administrative and supervision experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in high school scheduling and academic planning.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning processes.
  • Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice.
  • Knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision-making and accountability for results.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the distinction between line and staff position and functions in an organization as it relates to District educational support programs and services.
  • Knowledge of school finance, budget development and implementation and support services delivery systems.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district goals.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision making.
  • Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this goal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high school counselors and administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all functions of the Student Services Academic 9-12 team.
  • Provide expertise and support to area superintendents and staff to help them increase student learning, success, and achievement of district priorities.
  • Work with and through people to develop and implement comprehensive academic and guidance services.
  • Work with and through people to develop policies and procedures to assure district compliance with various federal and state statutes related to curriculum and instruction.
  • Direct, oversee and evaluate department staff in terms of their performance responsibilities and productivity in achieving the district’s goals.
  • Plan and direct a system of feedback and assessment of district-level programs to determine their responsiveness to the learning communities’ needs.
  • Keep the superintendent; deputy superintendent, and chief academic officer; informed about critical issues and incidents about which they should be informed.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop leadership in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS.
  • With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends, and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
