About The Position

The person in this position is responsible for managing systemic and strategic files related to the Office of the Vice-President of Education (VPE). They ensure liaison between the VPE and the staff of the sector. They promote a work culture consistent with that of the entire organization and focused on its mission, vision, guiding principles, and values.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of nine years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of principles of budget management, project management, and labor relations
  • Good knowledge of quality management, risk management, communications, and change management
  • Good knowledge of the college system as well as trends and issues
  • Excellent command of French and English, both oral and written

Responsibilities

  • Support the Vice-President of Education
  • Ensure liaison between the VPE and other sectors of the College and serve as a contact person
  • Support the VPE in their duties
  • Participate in various committees and replace the VPE as needed
  • Promote a spirit of teamwork and unity among sector members, fostering the expression of divergent opinions, the sharing of diverse perspectives, rapid conflict resolution, appreciation of diversity, cohesion, support, and teamwork
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with College management, staff, students, representatives of other post-secondary institutions, and other stakeholders or community groups who interact with the VPE
  • Manage and resolve sensitive situations, including complaints and delicate issues affecting the Education sector
  • Analyze strategic data and recommend directions for the Education sector
  • Develop official documents emanating from the VPE's office and ensure their quality
  • Direct activities and manage administrative files related to the Education sector
  • Ensure the VPE is informed of new developments that could affect the College's operations
  • Follow up with government bodies and the business community
  • Ensure compliance with ministerial regulations and prescribed deadlines
  • Governance, compliance, and strategic files of the Education sector
  • Ensure ministerial accountability for the Education sector
  • Develop and revise policies, directives, and procedures that enable the Education sector to comply with laws and ministerial directives, the processes of the Ontario Colleges Quality Assurance Service (OCQAS), the "Act to promote choice and excellence in postsecondary education, 2000", and the requirements of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB)
  • In collaboration with the deanships, the Centre for Pedagogical Leadership and Innovation (CLIP), and the Office of Quality, Institutional Research, and Strategic Planning (OQIRSP), monitor the continuous improvement of all processes affecting the Education sector
  • Ensure effective management of workloads (FCT)
  • Ensure the relevance of institutional documents and websites related to the Education sector
  • Ensure the governance of the College's educational partnerships
  • Ensure the governance and continuous improvement of the Placement Centre
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote access to internships and integrated work-based learning
  • Analyze results and recommend strategic directions to support student recruitment, retention, and success
  • Ensure the governance of the research ethics committee with human beings
  • Ensure the governance of the intellectual integrity strategy and related guidelines for the Education sector
  • Project and activity coordination related to the Education sector
  • Develop and manage special project budgets for the Education sector
  • Coordinate the production and publication of the academic calendar
  • Coordinate new projects affecting the Education sector, determine projects to undertake, and submit proposals
  • Revise and publish the Boréal Guide
  • Revise and send program guides
  • Manage textbook orders for the post-secondary sector
  • Manage requests for equipment and infrastructure-related requests for the sector
  • Support the annual program review
  • Support the process of suspending offers and programs, as well as requests for hiring full-time academic staff and requests for new programs
  • Other assigned tasks
