Job Summary: The Director of Building Structures is responsible for the planning, supervision, and development of activities related to structural engineering within the firm. They ensure the technical quality of projects, adherence to budgets and deadlines, as well as the growth of the team and business portfolio in the Gatineau region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering, Structural option.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, including at least 5 years as a manager or technical director.
  • Proficiency in design software (ETABS, SAP2000, ADA, SAFI)
  • Solid knowledge of materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry)
  • Excellent understanding of the Quebec Building Code and relevant CSA standards
  • Mobilizing leadership
  • Excellent communication and team management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong sense of customer service and quality

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the structural engineering team (engineers and technicians)
  • Ensure the design, verification, and validation of structural calculations and plans (steel, concrete, wood, mixed structures).
  • Actively participate in the strategic planning of the department and business development.
  • Manage interdisciplinary coordination with architecture, mechanical, electrical, and civil departments.
  • Ensure project compliance with the Quebec Building Code (CBQ), CSA standards, and municipal requirements.
  • Supervise the preparation of technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, partners, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of structural department personnel.
  • Ensure technical and regulatory monitoring to integrate best practices and innovations.
