About The Position

To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines and lead Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the store management team, generate profitable sales by achieving sales and profit goals, managing the budget, and forecasting sales. Proactively analyze and utilize sales and financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to identify and respond to market changes while reducing expenses. Communicate associate sales results and guide the interpretation of results.
  • With the rest of the management team, create operational plans, prioritization, delegation, and clear directives for managers and associates. Ensure optimal store conditions by effectively presenting merchandise, having accurate and competitive pricing, and establishing store standards in line with Company guidelines and directives. Implement new store programs in line with Company directives, while evaluating effectiveness, monitoring perpetual inventory and replenishment, identifying stock flow issues, and taking appropriate corrective action. The assistant manager has received cross-training to competently work in all areas of the store when needed.
  • Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews, while ensuring compliance with Walmart guidelines and procedures, as well as established safety, sales, financial, and archival procedures and practices. Proactively anticipate and respond to compliance issues, including shrinkage control. This individual proactively anticipates and responds to compliance issues, including overall and total loss controls.
  • Act as an ambassador for their store to customers, welcoming them, gathering their feedback, and responding to their needs, complaints, and ensuring problem resolution to create a positive shopping experience. Represent, execute, and provide direction to associates on ways and techniques to provide courteous and attentive customer service.   • Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in and supporting community events and developing relationships with key community groups. Participate in Company-sponsored sustainability programs, events, and efforts for associates and customers to emphasize the store's role as an integral part of the community.
  • This individual leads associates by regularly conducting in-store meetings and communicating operational directives and initiatives focused on the OMNI program and the entire store. She/he drives engagement, recognizes and rewards achievements, and provides opportunities for professional growth. She/he identifies high-potential associates, providing training and development to enhance their skills.
  • She/he demonstrates Company values by holding managers and associates accountable and providing them with honest, accurate, respectful, and timely feedback, as well as corrective action. Build and manage relationships with store and district support staff (e.g., specialty division managers, HR managers, district teams, etc.).
  • She/he complies with Company guidelines and procedures when handling merchandise, including, but not limited to: alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-value items. She/he ensures proper cash controls, overseeing daily transactions of up to $250,000.
