About The Position
Shift Staffed Homes (SSH) is a service within Adult Services at New Directions, providing person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who may experience complex health issues. SSH strives to promote a sense of belonging and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of adults, supporting their pursuits, interests, goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the adults and their significant others. We provide an environment that is non-judgmental, safe and caring. Shift Staffed Homes operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Operating a vehicle is an essential duty of this role. Candidates must hold a valid, active driver's license in good standing to be eligible for hire.
Nice To Haves
- 2 or more years of direct support work experience is considered an asset
- First Aid/CPR training considered an asset
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NCI) considered an asset
- American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a team providing care, support and guidance to individuals in their homes and in the community
- Administering medication
- Providing transportation
- Performing household chores
- Engage in the orientation and training opportunities provided
Benefits
- The salary range for this part-time 1-year term 48-hour bi-weekly position is $17.3239 to $23.3888 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience.
