The Direct Support Supervisor (DSS) leads a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support and assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop and enhance basic living skills and other life skills, promoting independence and individual choice. The role involves coordinating, implementing, and evaluating individual program plans, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The supervisor is responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating DSPs, managing progressive discipline and staff development, and maintaining confidentiality of records. This position also ensures the implementation of all policies, procedures, and programs, and oversees the maintenance and regulatory compliance of residences. The supervisor must ensure timely completion of mandatory training for themselves and their staff, model and ensure proper implementation of individual program plans using a Person-Centered approach, and be available on-call for emergencies. Additionally, the role facilitates communication with other departments, reviews documentation on Therap daily, conducts record reviews for compliance, and develops relationships with family members/advocates.
