About The Position

CBI Home Health is looking to hire Direct Support Specialists in Newmarket, ON. The wage range for this position is $23.50 – $26.00 (inclusive of $3 wage enhancement) per hour. This job posting is for a new vacancy.

Requirements

• A Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
• Clear Broad Sector Screen dated within the last 3 months
• Clear Criminal record check dated within the last 3 months
• Valid Full Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
• Driver’s Abstract (3-year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months

Nice To Haves

• Previous community experience working with youth and adults with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual’s quality of life
• Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
• Daily documentation and reporting
• Medication Administration (as delegated)
• Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
• Supporting clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
• Assisting with household activities and chores
