Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Caregivers & Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team at their program in Chico, CA. This role involves interacting with and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings, including community, family, or individual homes. The DSP will assist with direct care and implement behavior plans, aiming to enhance the health, safety, dignity, and contentment of consumers by assisting and training them in personal care, communication, and social skill development. The position offers a pay rate of $17.50 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour night shift differential for overnight work.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. preferred.
- Experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Experienced assisting individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Responsibilities
- Provide the full personal care and support to clients who live in the home
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation and companionship
- Help with ambulation, transferring and range of motion exercises
- Ensure a safe home environment with unobstructed pathways
- Participate in activities that bring clients joy such as puzzles, games, reading and hobbies
