About The Position
1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Inner city of Syracuse (DJ– WG). A 64-year-old male in Syracuse is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him in learning skills for independent living, including teaching positive communication, money management, and general life skills. The role involves helping the individual create grocery lists for community shopping, supporting his engagement in activities like church and the library, and accompanying him on walks and outdoor activities. The ideal candidate will be patient, adept at reminding the individual of tasks due to memory challenges, and skilled in facilitating conversations to help him articulate his thoughts. This is a part-time position with potential for additional hours supporting other agency clients. Hours are flexible, up to 30 per week.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
- New York State Driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Proof of auto insurance
- Acceptable driving record
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community
- Effective communication and organizational skills required
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required
- Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy
Nice To Haves
- No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred

Benefits
- Additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency
- Starting pay: CH1 $19.25/hour and increases with years of relevant experience
