Direct Support Professional
About The Position
Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team at their program in Slippery Rock, PA. This role involves creating long-term impacts on individuals' lives by encouraging, mentoring, and coaching them to achieve their goals. DSPs will spend their days in various settings, making memories with individuals, following their Individual Support Plans, and working on social and communication skills. The role also includes fostering pride and independence by teaching daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, and laundry, and assisting with daily and personal activities to enhance independence.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old.
- A valid driver’s license is required for community-based homes.
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma/G.E.D. preferred
- Related experience is helpful.
Responsibilities
- Encouraging, mentoring, and coaching individuals to achieve their goals.
- Following Individuals Support Plans.
- Working on social and communication skills.
- Teaching individuals to navigate daily living activities, such as personal care, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Assisting with daily and personal activities to enhance independence.
