About The Position

TURN Community Services in Ogden, UT is looking to hire a part and full-time Day Program/Supported Living Direct Support Professional / Caregiver to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Ogden area. This caregiving position earns a competitive wage of $16.50/hour. TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities. Requirements

  • 18+ years of age
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Reliable personal vehicle for transporting individuals to various locations in the community.
  • A heart for serving people with developmental disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Discreet with confidential information
  • Compassion while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Calm, flexible, and patient
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a background check upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support people with developmental disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible.
  • Assist in areas of daily living including self-care, hygiene, motor skills, arts and crafts, vocational skills, work habits, and community inclusion.
  • Assist with behavior management and recreational activities.
  • Provide support for clients with their day-to-day schedules using effective teaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Model appropriate social skills and behaviors.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Promptly report any concerns about health or safety.
  • Work in both day program locations and assist in residential living as needed.
