About The Position
Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals. We serve individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and secondary mental health needs. The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individual. Requirements
- Comfort with providing full incontinence care
- High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school
- Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record
- Insured vehicle for client transportation
- Criminal Record Check
- Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management
- Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording
- Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel
- Due to personal care needs, this family is seeking a female DSP
Responsibilities
- Providing personal care, including incontinence care
- Providing behavioral support
- Medication administration
- Facilitating community engagement opportunities for communication and recreation/leisure
- Meeting client-specific needs
- Working during inclement weather and some holidays
- Prompt and regular attendance
